My hair story: Ombre or dip-dyed?

I've always had this love-hate relationship with my hair. I had super long boring wavy hair since I was young but when I was in 2nd grade, I had it cut up to my chin. I don't know why I did it. I guess I was just too young to care. Since then I haven't done anything much other than my monthly trims. Not until 5 years ago, that is. During that time, bobcuts were a trend and I decided to give it a try. I ended up not liking it that much therefore I won't share any pictures.

Fast forward to 2012...

As you may remember, I had a sidecut (or undercut, whatever you want to call it) February of last year. Read my post here. I wanted an edgier look so I did it without second thoughts and also because I was inspired by Cher Lloyd and Lindsey Pavao.

Most people gave me positive feedback and I also loved how my hair looked so yayyy! That was when I started loving my hair (even the crazy waves!) because apparently, it's the trend. I guess I'm lucky to have wavy hair since I no longer need to have it permed. Haha!

I always have it swept on one side because it shows off the shaved part. And also because I'm obsessed with the side braid. :)

Aside from my hair being naturally wavy (it used to be curly when I was really young but it became wavy as I grew older), I have dark brown/black hair. The first time I dyed my hair was 5 years ago, a few months after I had the bobcut. It was brown with red undertones. Since then I had it retouched every 6 months in similar shades. I didn't stick to one color because I wanted to try different ones but I didn't want any drastic changes.

I got bored with my hair yet again and I was toying with the idea of having multi-colored hair for a couple of months. I didn't want to do anything permanent just yet so I tried hair chalk first.

April 2013: Finally, after thinking it over for a million times, I ended up keeping the sidecut (which is btw, a very high maintenance hairstyle -- I trim it every 2 weeks!) and had my hair lightened mid-length towards the end and added the hot pink color at the ends.

A few days after I had it done:

2 months after I had it done:

As you can see the color pink has faded already but there's still a hint of color visible.

I loved my hair with pink ends but now that it has faded, I'm thinking of having either blue or purple. Although my hair is a bit dry because of the chemicals, I still love it. I'm glad I didn't have it rebonded years ago (though a couple of years back, I did have straight hair probably because of the haircut). I love the texture of my hair now and the unkept look of it. As you can see, I'm into the "just rolled out of bed hair". My sidecut has already grown but I'm not quite sure if I wanted to trim it again or let it grow more. Stay tuned for that. ;)

Anyway, I really don't know what to call my hairstyle right now. Ombre or dip-dyed? Whatever. I love it. :)

  2. Wow, you actually have gorgeous hair! The waves remind me of Miley Cyrus' old locks, and I'd say you rock them better.
