Last year, I joined the 6th run of Designlab (read more about it here, here and here) which is a design competition at a local mall here in Iloilo. I made it to the top 5 (I was in top 6 last year) and got eliminated right before the final round. I guess it wasn't meant for me. Anyway, I'll share with you my designs during the 1st and 2nd elimination rounds of the 7th run.
So the challenge for the 1st round was to incorporate our own aesthetic to the international designer assigned to us. We had to design both womenswear and menswear. My designer was Yohji Yamamoto.
I am not so familiar with Japanese fashion so it was very difficult for me. For womenswear, I thought of textures, monochrome and minimalism.
For menswear, it was all about mixing patterns, asymmetry and weird details.
Fortunately, the judges loved my designs. They even told me that my designs are "very Yohji" and that the hair and make-up are also spot on. What do you think?
Here are the other contestants with their designs.
A teaser of what I wore during the show. I'll blog about it very soon. ;)
2nd round
The theme was "Modern Iloilo" and we were tasked to interpret a local infrastructure through our design. I got "Esplanade" which is situated near Iloilo River.
I was inspired of the lines, colors and textures of Esplanade so this is what I came up with.
Top 5
I'll blog about my outfit in a separate post. That's all for now!
Take care everyone!

Everyone told me that I did a good job and I was able to fulfill the challenge but apparently, this particular judge bashed me. I was humiliated and I felt really bad because I did my best. Well, that's how competitions go. At least I learned from it. :)
