Iloilo Designers Week S/S '13 | Day 1

The first ever Iloilo Designers Week S/S '13 was a success! I'm sorry, I know this is a very late post. I would've posted this earlier if only I hadn't been swamped with schoolwork and other pending posts which I had to publish first but hey, better late than never. The Iloilo Designers Week was on November 5-9, 2012 held at SM City Iloilo activity center. To start off, here's Day 1.

Bloggers JoshRyan and Coco.

Here are the collections!

Set 1 (Visions and trends)

Bo Parcon

Edgy and rock n' roll -- those are the words that come to my mind upon seeing Bo Parcon's collection. He went for the all-time popular everything black ensemble but kept it interesting with some patterns of the said color.

These vests are perfect if you want to toughen up your look. You'll easily give off that rocker chick vibe.

The vest and dress look perfect together! Very androgynous.

THE Ria Bolivar. I've seen her countless times working the runway but she never fails to amaze me every time.

Jaki Penalosa

Hablon is Jaki Penalosa's trademark. It's amazing how she can transform this piece into different garments. What better way to promote our local culture than to showcase it on the runway, right?

When I saw these dresses, I instantly thought of native princesses. Or is it just me?

These pieces looked elegant.

John Montinola

Edgy and glam. I really like how the different details work well together. This is definitely one of my faves for Day 1 just because I like anything unusual.

These shoes are out of this world!

The face mask gave the collection a futuristic vibe. It's not for normal day use but it'll be fun for an event or party. :)

The middle dress made me think of a female gladiator/warrior princess!

So I've noticed that there are golds and silvers thrown together. You all know that this is a big no-no buuuut rules are meant to be broken (sometimes). Thumbs up!

Fierce!

Jet Salcedo

Jet Salcedo's collection is broadway inspired. You might not know but I'm obsessed with broadway! I've been a fan of musicals ever since I got to be in one back in highschool. I even thought of taking up theater arts in college but that's another story. ;)

The ruffles and puffs really caught my attention. I like quirky details.

The colors black and white made the collection classy and polished. Hats off to you, Jet!

Set 2 (Luxe wear)

Designer Jet Salcedo with friends.

Eric Delos Santos

This collection is very summer-y. I can't wait for summer!

Stripes! I think they're going to be huge this summer. They never went out of style anyway. ;)

Alberto Barros

This collection is very Lanvin. Something Blair Waldorf would totally wear. :)

Feminine and fabulous!

The gold plates added a nice touch to the clothes. I love it!

Binky Pitogo

I absolutely love the playful and youthful vibe of this collection. Everything literally screams fun and girly. Again, one of my favorites! Btw, she's also from UPV. :)

The intricate details, prints and cutouts are so me. These clothes are to die for!

So I guess the peplum trend is here to stay. :)

Djohn Clement

Edgy and fab. I like how the blacks and golds complemented each other. The feather appliques added a bit of edginess to the garments too.

This cape ensemble is really a statement piece. Gorgeous.

Fabulous, isn't it?

Set 3 (Grand allure)

Angelette Borja-Ragus

This collection is classic and timeless. Very vibrant colors!

Alfie Desamparado

Alfie is the winner of Designlab 6 which I also joined (read more about herehere and here). He is awesome! This collection is pure edginess!

This cape ensemble is also one of my favorites. Hmm I've been loving capes lately.

Very intricate details.

Sidney Eculla

This collection is so elegant and fresh. It's very Carolina Herrera, spot on.

White is very tricky to pull of but when done right, it can be so beautiful.

I like the play of prints and textures. You can truly do a lot with the color!

Binary opposition. Femininity and androgyny. This I like! :)

You can't go any more feminine without tulles and ruffles!

This is sheer bliss.

Most photos are by me, the ones without watermarks are by Paul Frederick Chiongson (see more here) and some by Drae Pilarta (see more here). I had to borrow some photos because my camera died. :(

The Day 1 designers did great! Kudos to them. I can see a bright future for the fashion industry here in Iloilo. :)

Streetstyle photos of Day 1 are up next!
